This Term Only: Where Science Gets Real

Watch Mr Patel’s message about this term’s adventures, or jump straight in below to see what’s waiting for your child.

Workshops run weekly in our Summer Term 2026.

Formula 1 cars aren't fast just because of the engine, it's the shape. Engineers use wind tunnels to see exactly how air fights or flows around a body.

This term, children sculpt their own clay models, test them in a real miniature wind tunnel, and refine until the drag disappears. They'll take home something they engineered with real data behind it.

Concepts: aerodynamics, drag, streamlining, air resistance
Skills: modelling, observation, iterative design

Wind Tunnel Lab:
Shape, Test, Prove...

CO₂ Capture: Proving the Invisible.

Mix the right chemicals and something happens you can hear but can't see, carbon dioxide. Children trap the gas using balloons over test tubes.

No one blows them up. The chemistry does.

Concepts: chemical reactions, gas production, carbon dioxide Skills: lab technique, hypothesis testing, safe handling

Construction Sticks:
Engineer It. Load It. Break It.

Simple materials. Serious engineering. Children design and build structures that need to hold real weight.

They'll learn that engineering isn't about using more, it's about using smarter.

Triangulation, bracing, and load distribution come to life when your build either stands or collapses.

Concepts: structural engineering, triangulation, load distribution
Skills: planning, prototyping, teamwork, resilience

Plus So Much More This Term

Microscope Workshops

Take microscopes around the school: leaves, fabric, skin, dust and discover what's been hiding in plain sight.

Slime Lab

Polymers, viscosity, and cross‑linking molecules: every batch teaches something real.

Chalk Workshop

Investigate why certain substances hold colour better than others. Hands‑on, messy, and they take home chalk they made.

Friction Workshop

See how we can reduce the friction of an object down to near zero!

Spike Workshops

Precision building with our State of the art Robots kits.

Straight Line Jump Workshop

Physics meets movement: measure, optimise, and understand the mechanics behind distance and momentum.

Earthquake Challenge

Build that can withstand an earthquake, designed in collaboration with Engineers from Italy and Greece.

Table Workshop:

Structural engineering competition: design, build, and load‑test miniature tables. Last time, a school in London took the crown. We're going again.

Each one is designed to leave them saying: “I did this myself.”

  • Curriculum‑aligned (and more fun than any classroom).

  • Confidence, curiosity, and creativity built into every session.

  • Delivered by trained, engaging professionals.
